Top Ten Web Site Marketing Tips
10 - Search Engines
Submit web site to major Search Engines. Visit each Search Engine. Search for ‘submit URL to (insert name of search engine)’. Follow instructions. Search Engine’s ranking algorithm is one amazing, intelligent software component. And don’t forget the basics; meta tags. They don’t carry the ‘weight’ they once did but they are still used by the Search Engines.
9 - You're the Expert
Add articles, white papers, newsletter, etc. to your web site. Adding new information gives visitors a reason to come back to your site.
8 - No Tricks
Almost all Search Engines scan web sites content; plus the meta keyword tags. The more keyword rich content; the better. Web site success is typically measured by number of visitors. So ask yourself – why would people come to my site? Do I offer interesting and informative information? Do I describe my products/services in an understandable language? If not why would they come?
7 - eMail Marketing
It isn’t hard to justify an investment in email marketing when the cost of sending emails is economical. People consider email to be their primary form of communication. Routinely email information to your customers and prospects thru a ‘mass email marketing’ service.
6 - Links
Develop links ‘back to your web site’. The more links ‘TO’ your web site, the higher ranking you’ll receive at the Search Engines.
5 - Plan
Develop a web site promotion plan. Website plans include: content changes, adding new products/services, tweaking keywords/meta tags, email marketing, postal mail marketing, social networking, relationship building, etc.
4 - Freebies
Offer something for free. Everyone enjoys getting something for free. Before giving them the ‘freebie’ always collect their name and email address thru a web form.
3 - Email Address
Does your email address include your web site address? Let’s say your business name is ABC Services. Is your email address:
ABCservices@gmail.com (this email address advertises for gmail….are they paying you?)
YourName@ABCservices.com (this advertising your web site address)
2 - Audio/Video
Visitors remember more when they read and ‘hear’ your message. Plus a video paints a picture of a thousand words. You’d be amazed at what you can put into a 30-second audio/video segment. Plus it’s very powerful, memorable and easy to do.
1 - Content
Your web site content is KING. Having lots of content is great; but if it’s one(1) years old your site will not get the respect it deserves from visitors; plus search engines will not give your site high rankings. Add / change content on a regular basis.
